A Kentucky man still can't process he won $500,000 after purchasing a Precious Metals Titanium scratch-off ticket from a vending machine.
Daniel Reffitt purchased a $20 lottery ticket from a vending machine after leaving the Meijer grocery store on Houston Road in Florence, KY, last Sunday.
He couldn't decide which scratch-off to play but eventually chose Precious Metals Titanium.
"I was reaching to press the button to buy the Fast Play ticket, then I thought, 'never mind,' and bought the other ticket," Reffitt told the Lottery.
Reffitt didn't waste any time. He immediately scored big by striking the $500,000 prize on the first number he scratched off the ticket.
Without hesitation, he felt compelled to lend a helping hand. His natural inclination to assist others kicked in immediately.
"I saw a few guys sitting down and gave them $100 each and told them, 'Merry Christmas,'" Reffitt shared.
After he took a selfie with the winning ticket, Reffitt informed his wife about the good news from the Lottery, and she replied by calling him the luckiest man in the world.
After taxes, Reffitt received $357,500 and plans to pay off bills. The Meijer that sold the winning ticket will receive a $5,000 bonus.
